Wow - haven't been here in a while.  Here's an update.

deal_show

Look out for me and my friend Kyle on Deal or No Deal Canada tonight - 9pm on Global.  Kyle was involved in screening the applicants and so scored some passes to the show.

deal_grandpa

Tonight’s show concludes the Mini-Mountie’s game and introduces Extreme Grandpa.  I know, I know.  He’s old, but he white water rafts and skydives!!  Plus he brought his whole extended family for luck which is cool.

And as if you needed more of an incentive, there’s Jen, Jill and Shanu.  Someone has to open those cases, right?

Cheers.

What a flippin' shitty day!  I swear without the sun, I felt my life being slowly sucked away, subsequently leaving me with the mental capacity of a paleolithic mongoloid.

Volunteered at the Grand Opening of the Chinese Cultural Centre's theatre last weekend and who would you believe shows up?  The Mayor of Toronto ... David Miller ... which was cool, but not as cool as the flippin' PRIME MINISTER, Stephen Harper!!!  I swear I was ten feet away from him!  And while I wouldn't think I'd feel like I was in the presense of someone important - Harper, after all - but with the combination of security (everywhere!) and the hush that fell among the crowd as he entered, I definitely got caught up in the moment.  Pretty cool.

Lost:  Season Two marathon in progress and it's so sweet.  I'm sorry, but while season one set the precedent for the show, I really think people don't give the second season it's due.  It absolutely needs to be watched all the way through.  There's really something to be said about the frequency of new episodes lately on tv and how viewer attention relies on a show's consistency.  Just look at Invasion - the show was deemed the Best New Show of 2005 in TV Guide (or something) and now it's just a box set of the complete series at WalMart.
I hope they know what they're doing this year.  Daddy needs his television heroin.

Justin Timberlake's new album, FutureSex/LoveSounds ... lamest frickin' title EVER ... dropped today but I didn't get chance to pick it up.  Had to boot it downtown.  A friend got comp tickets to a flick for the Toronto Film Festival and needed someone to go with.  Unfortunately, traffic was ... as my parents would say ... "diabolical" ... and it just wasn't in the cards.  Went for dinner instead.  Anyone ever tried strawberry flavoured beer?  It's breathtaking.  It's the product of a strawberry daquiri/beer love affair that went oh-so-right.  Pretty damn tasty and just enough alcohol to calm the savage beast.  I'll take two.

Conundrum of the Day

From the moment I
left my house, driving
Buffy to the park,
it rained.
Slowly, building strength
and fervor, Mother Nature
pissed down on me and
my scaredy dog.
I was drenched by
the time we hit the half
way mark 'round
the park.
And we were running,
the entire way, as fast
as our legs could
move us.
Finally, when we made
it back, I sat there behind
the wheel and laughed
to myself.
My muscles burning, my
lungs filling with battery acid,
all the while my skin dripping
with heaven's tears.
I laughed to myself and
drove away feeling ... what?
Baptised?  Blessed?  Drowned?  Drained?
I laughed.
And so, pulling up into the
driveway, struggling to comfort
my dog, I was suddenly brought
back to earth.

Summerslam '06 tonight and the card is stacked from start to finish.  Each match is main event calibre and with only seven matches on the card, I'm hoping for big things in every one.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero - Grudge Match
Should be the curtain jerker, but one HELL of a curtain jerker!  Mysterio should go over in the match to get his revenge and for jobbing through his ENTIRE RUN as World Heavyweight Champion over the last four months.  Sleeper match of the night.

ECW Title - Sabu vs. Big Show (c)
Give it to Big Show.  Sabu will definitely put on a show of his own, but Show's gotta stay strong after losing to the Undertaker at last month's Great American Bash.

Ric Flair vs. Mick Foley - "I Quit" Match
Tough to call.  There's been a TON of build for this match and some much personal info.  Foley beating down Terry Funk!  Taking shots at Flair's illegitimate children!!  Building the match around Foley's favourite match of all-time according to his own book - Flair vs. Funk:  "I Quit" match - was pure genius.  The match itself will be an absolute BLOODBATH and it'll have to be.  These guys can't really "go" in the ring anymore.  I'm calling a screwy ending - while not officially quitting, Flair passes out due to blood loss and thus the match is awarded to Foley.

DX (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) vs. The McMahons (Vince and Shane)
I think Trips and Michaels versus Stephanie and Linda is more watchable, but hey, I'm not a booker.  (Stephanie McMahon is Triple H's real life wife, btw.)  Anyway, DX has been screwed over by the McMahon's for the last three weeks, including jobbing to former Headshrinker, Umaga.  If DX doesn't go over in this match, I might stop watching wrestling altogether.

World Heavyweight Championship - Batista vs. King Booker (c)
All Hail King Booker!  That pretty much sums up my pick!  With no upper echelon heel on the Smackdown roster, Booker needs to retain.  His royal transformation has been nothing short of phenomenal and huge props to Booker for doing more with the King of the Ring gimmick than ... dare I say ... ANYONE that has ever won it.  More than Owen Hart.  More than Triple H.  More than Kurt Angle.  To be honest, I hope he runs with the belt to Wrestlemania.  Long Live King Booker!

WWE Championship - John Cena vs. Edge (c) w/ Lita
With Cena's hometown hosting the PPV, the Doctor of Thuganomics will win is third WWE title reign.  A bit of a moot point, but the championship can also change on a disqualification, which begs the question, how will Edge get screwed over THIS time?

Legend vs. Legend Killer - Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Orton
For my money, this is match to see.  Toughest to call too.  With Hogan blowing out his knee GETTING UP OUT OF HIS COUCH ... this match almost didn't happen.  Apparently, there were internet rumblings that he was faking it to get out of WWE's new Wellness program which constitutes random drug tests because The Hulkster takes steroids, bruther!
In any case, I really want Orton to go over.  HBK couldn't beat the Power of Hulkamania at last year's Summerslam, but that was intended to be a short term feud.  This could - and should - go all the way to next year's Wrestlemania.  Orton wins, brags his way to 'Mania, only to get destroyed by Hogan then.  Let's face it - the Stone Cold/Hogan Wrestlemania dream match will never happen, so an Orton rematch will do just fine.

Hope everyone had a (legend) killer weekend  ....

You know the old addage - While the cats are away, the mice will play?

Try:  While the parents are away, the kids will do an endless stream of chores.

My parents left on Wednesday for England for a month.  My cousin's wedding is today and my parents thought it'd work well to attend and stay for a few extra weeks.  Makes sense to me.  Unfortunately this means it's the unofficial end of summer and all things fun.  I already feel like a stay-at-home mom who has nothing better to do than clean, clean and - oh hey! - more cleaning

It's insane.  I respect my mother and father today, right now, at this very moment, on levels I never knew existed.  Even after clubbing last night and not getting to bed till something around 2:30 this morning, I was up at 8 walking my dog, watering the lawn, watering the plants, washing dishes, doing four loads of laundry - where did all these clothes come from???!!! -  and changing my bed sheets.  And I still have to shower and clean my bathroom.

OMG and WTF.

The bright side is it's not even noon and I've already killed these chores for the weekend.  Pretty sweet.  I've gotta remind myself about this so I can brag to my mom.  Still think I can't take care of myself, mom?    BOO-YAH!!  Now I just need to learn how to cook and I'm set.

Awesome clubbing last night, although a lot of noteable absentees.  Hopefully, we can all hook up for another occasion   Sexyback was the best song.
